Ohio Stadium , popularly known as the “ Horseshoe ” or only “ The ‘Shoe ”, is located in the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and is the home ground of the Buckeyes Football Team . The construction for the stadium was started on the 3 rd of August, 1921 and it took a little more than one year for the stadium to be ready for use. The Ohio Stadium, designed by Howard Dwight Smith, was officially announced open on the 7 th of October, 1922 and took US$1.34 million to be constructed.
Since the day it was opened, the Ohio Stadium which has a field turf surface has been having the Ohio State Buckeyes of the NCCA or the National College Athletic Association as their tenants. Along with them, the Ohio Glory used the 101,568 capacity stadium for the year 1992. The Columbus Crew also used the stadium for four seasons from 1996 to 1999. The Ohio Stadium provides the spectators who come to experience the matches with a large array of amenities like the food and drinking facilities, car parking facilities and others.
The Ohio Stadium has been the witness to a number of historical events. It has also hosted a lot of football matches and is among the major football stadiums of the country.
