The Millennium Stadium is regarded as one of the top stadiums in the world. Located in Cardiff, it is the national stadium of Wales. It has also been selected as one of the venues for 2012 Summer Olympics. With a seating capacity of 74,500 people the Millennium Stadium is the fourth largest stadium in the United Kingdom. The stadium was opened in 1999 and stands at the same spot where previously the Cardiff Arm Park stadium stood. The Millennium Stadium plc, a subsidiary of the Welsh Rugby Union, is the owner of this stadium.
The Millennium Stadium of Cardiff has three tiers of seating, with the upper tier accommodating the maximum number of spectators. The four masts of the stadium are as high as 90,341 meters, making it the tallest building in Cardiff. A total of 40,000 tonnes of concrete ands 12,000 tonnes of steel was used in building this super structure. The orientation of the Millennium Stadium has also been changed from east to west to north to south.
The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff is being used for a number of activities throughout the year. Wales plays most of their international soccer matches on this ground.
