Lane Stadium


Lane Stadium is situated at Blacksburg in Virginia of the United States of America. The stadium is located at Spring Road at the place of an old stadium named Miles Stadium . Lane stadium has been operating since 1965. However, the construction was fully completed in 1968. The stadium has been named after Edward H. Lane , who played a key role in gathering fund for the stadium. In 1968, the stadium had a capacity of 35,050 spectators. There was a three tiered press box for honorable guests. Football matches are primarily held in the Lane Stadium . The first football match was played here in 1965.

Lane Stadium is owned and operated by the Virginia Tech Hokies , a football team. From the very beginning, the stadium has been the home ground of this football team. Since the time of inauguration, the stadium has gone under numerous renovation programs. The year 1980 saw construction of additional stands on the East side, which increased the seating capacity to 52,500. In 1991, new score boards were put up at the South end and the North end of the Lane Stadium . A number of permanent seats were built in the North end zone between 1999 and 2001. In 2000 a new scoreboard called “Hokievision” was added to the stadium facilities. At the beginning of the 2006 season, the seating capacity of the Lane Stadium has become 66,233. Apart from football matches, graduation ceremonies and concerts are also held at the stadium. At present, the stadium is considered to be one of the finest football grounds of the country, which his equipped with all latest technologies.
