Mudslide kills 10 gold miners at Peru

Ten people died and 16 miners are missing on 3rd March, after a mudslide in Peru's southern province of Puno.
According to Authorities Army Helicopter carried rescue workers to the camp on Tuesday morning and evacuated five severely wounded miners. Heavy rains caused mudslides that buried miners and some 50 homes at the wildcat Winchomayo gold mining camp before dawn on Monday. The camp is at least a 15 hour hike from the nearest road.

Among the dead were a baby and two other children. Miners usually worked with the family. Helicopter is the only mode to reach the camp and bad weather made it impossible to return after a morning flight to the area.
