The Super Puma crashed down in North Sea, 125 miles east of Aberdeen while on its way to offshore platform.
All the eighteen people on board have been rescued to safety, reported coastguard. The helicopter came down near a platform in ETAP field, 125 miles off the coast of Aberdeen.
Five helicopters and raft-boats were pressed into rescue operation minutes after the super puma ditched. "Everyone has been recovered from water", reported the assistant controller of Royal Air Force. "We don't know their condition but we believe there are no major injuries."
Super Puma is used to ferry people across the oil platforms in North Sea and has quite a good safety record. Three people were airlifted by the Bond company helicopter while the 15 others aboard are being brought back by rescue boat. According to RAF spokesperson, the helicopter landed upright and floated for sometime. According to Fl Sgt Lynn, "It was all very quick. Within few minutes of the aircraft ditching we had rescue aircraft en route. Luckily the crew and the passengers were able to get out safely. It is a very good result."
