Thematic World Atlas

The Times Atlas of World History The Times Atlas of World History was created by Barry Winkleman, the Publishing Director of The Times, and Geoffrey Barraclough, Chichele Professor of Modern History at Oxford University. This Atlas was first published in 1978 in London, UK, and its prime aim was to give a chronological coverage of major processes and events of world history in maps, such as depicting ruling families, minor battles, geographic effects of treaties, etc. It is the most accurate, clearest, most-up-to-date, and most comprehensive atlas ever published.
The Times Atlas of the World History includes approximately 600 maps covering the date span from 3500 BC to 1975 and is generally updated approximately after every 5 years. The format of the book is an oversized print book having dimensions 1.2´11´14.8 inches.
The second (1984) and third (1989) editions of ‘The Times Atlas of World History’ were edited by Norman Stone, a professor at Oxford and Geoffrey Parker, a Professor of Military and Naval History at Yale, whereas the fourth and last edition of it was edited by Geoffrey Barraclough. This atlas was published by Maplewood in Hammond in 1993. In 1999, the name of this book was changed to ‘Hammond Atlas of World History’.
