A country that has long been through turbulent political times, Vietnam has made moderate progress in the field of science and technology. The development of Vietnam science & technology has always been determined by the country's economy.
The government of the country identified the immediate need for progress in science and technology and so the second five-year plan concentrated on the development of Vietnam science & technology.
Two organizations, the Union of Scientific and Technical Associations and the general Association of Medicine, are working for the growth of science and technology in Vietnam. Research, which is the most important aspect of science and technology, is being carried on in Vietnam under the supervision of the State Commission for Science and Technology.
Scientific research in Vietnam takes place at the universities and the institutes. Over the recent years, science and technology of Vietnam has witnessed a significant development.
