Dong is the main Vietnam currency. The notes ranges from 200 dong to the recent 500,000 dong. In December 2003 many dong coins such as 5000, 1000 and 200 dong coins are introduced. In Vietnam US Dollar, Master card, VISA and JCB cards are accepted. You can use them for paying your bills in most of the hotel, restaurants, spa and other places related to tourism industry.
You can get Vietnam currency in exchange of your own currency from the banks. Money can be withdrawn in Vietcombank, ANZ and HSBC bank. ATMS are available throughout the country. But many of them do not accept foreign cards. You can open your account in local banks like Vietcombank if you stay in this country for a long time. At the same time you can also open accounts in foreign banks.

Foreign Currency Management Vietnam is done by the Foreign Trade Bank, which is authorized by the Bank of Vietnam to make the payments of imports. The headquarter of this bank is located in Ho Chi Minh City. Both foreign currency holdings and the resolution of debts owed to foreign countries are managed by this bank.
