HIV/AIDS Venezuela



HIV /AIDS Venezuela had taken its toll on the population of Venezuela, especially in the year 2003. It had become one of the most important issues of concern in Venezuela health care system. However, with the efforts of the Venezuela government, there has been considerable improvement in the situation. Media and educational programs were launched, which imparted awareness regarding the disease.

Campaigns were organized among sex workers, women, children and the youth, who were vulnerable to the disease. Venezuela HIV/AIDS prevention programs were launched through media like newspapers and radio. Billboards sending the message of AIDS prevention were installed in each and every corner of the streets in Venezuela. An investment of 900,000 dollars was sanctioned by the Venezuela government towards the media campaign.

The following is a detailed statistics of the people suffering from HIV/AIDS in Venezuela in the year 2003. This table includes facts and figures that include people who might not have the advanced symptom of AIDS.

Adults and Children Women
The estimated number of adults and children who were infected by the virus were 110,000. The low estimate of which was 47,000 and the high estimate was 170,000. About 100,000 adults between the age of 15 to 49 were infected from the disease. The estimated number of women between the age of 15 to 49, who were infected by the virus were 32,000. The low estimate was that of 16,000 and the high estimate was that of 53,000.

Death due to AIDS in Venezuela

Death due to AIDS/HIV in Venezuela in the year 2003, were estimated to be 4,100. The low estimate of 2003 was 1,900 and the high estimate was 8,000. This estimation was inclusive of the number of deaths among adults and children.
