The Venezuela government is comprised of some special branches, which help the government in functioning effectively. The Venezuela Citizens Branch is one such government branch, which is designed to serve as watchdog. The Citizens Branch keeps an eye on the nationals to see whether they are abiding by the country laws.
The branch also collectively acts as the 'Republican Moral Council', which challenges the decisions supported by the supreme Tribunal violating or going against the constitution. Three components constitute the citizens branch- the Prosecutor General, the Ombudsman and the Comptroller General. The National Assembly of Venezuela elects the members of the Venezuela Citizens Branch for a period of seven years.
According to the 1961 Venezuela Constitution, the government is divided into the Executive, Legislature, judiciary and the Citizens Branch. Among the three components of the Venezuela Citizens Branch, the Supreme Tribunal of Justice heads the judicial branch of Venezuela. The members or the justices of the supreme Tribunal are appointed by the National Assembly and serve for 12 years.
The tribunal meets in chambers. The Prosecutor General is the fiscal general of the Citizens Branch. The Ombudsman of the Venezuela Citizens Branch acts as the defender of the people. The third component of the citizens branch is the comptroller general.
The Venezuela Citizens Branch through its three components serves as a watchdog and also challenges the decision of the supreme tribunal if it finds against the constitution.
