Thus in March the flow of the Caroni river is minimum, while it reaches a maximum limit during the month of July. Thus by utilizing such fluctuations in the river's flow, hydroelectricity is generated by the dams constructed on it. 70% of the electricity received by Venezuela is generated by these dams. Therefore the river Caroni plays a vital role in the economic development of the country.
