With an extensive network of roads and the most number of paved highways among all the Latin American countries, Venezuela infrastructure is quite well-endowed. As a matter of fact, approximately 60 % of the roads in Venezuela are paved highways. As most of the residential areas lie in the northern part of the country, majority of these highways are located in that portion. Whereas, the people in the southern part of this country rely on river and air transport.

Railways in Venezuela

The city of Caracas serves to be the capital of Venezuela. This city has a well-developed subway system. Other parts of this Latin American country depend upon a small railway system about 584 kilometers long. Mainly different types of cargo are transported by this railway system.

Airports in Venezuela

A total of 36 domestic airports and 11 international airports form a major part of the Venezuela infrastructure. It has been estimated that about 90% of the International flights ply from the major international airport in Caracas.

Ports in Venezuela

Venezuela has a total of 13 ports and harbors collectively. La Guaira, Maracaibo and Puerto Cabella are the three most important ports located on the Caribbean sea. This is because approximately 80% of the bulk cargo are transported from these ports. The hydroelectric power plants in the rivers produce about 3/4th of Venezuela 's total power. Venezuela also ranks fifth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves.
