The Procession of the Holy Shepherdess is one of the most popular and much awaited Venezuela Festivals. It is one of the most colorful festivals, which represents the tradition of Venezuela. The procession is the most important part of the festival. The procession of the holy goddess from Santa Rosa to Barquismeto is accompanied by musicians, devotees and celebrants.

The Procession of the Holy Shepherdess of Venezuela is celebrated in the whole country in a grand way. However, it is most pompous in the town of Barquismeto, which is located just to the west of Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela. The Procession of the Holy Shepherdess in Venezuela has been in practice since the mid of 1800s and the custom is still being followed to the present day. The festival started when an epidemic had threatened the city to reduce its population. The Procession of the Holy Shepherdess was in order to stop the epidemic and for the betterment of the people.
