Salvador Garmendia was one of the most popular writers of Venezuela. He was born in the city of Barquismeto, Venezuela. Salvador Garmendia was a versatile writer who dealt with several contemporary issues of life. Salvador Garmendia is best known for his short-story writing, script-writing and oratory. Initially he was a professor but later on he took to writing novels and stories. He was awarded many prizes for his excellent style of writing.

Literary Works of Salvador Garmendia

Writer, Salvador Garmendia has written innumerable titles some of which are as follows:
  • In 1958, his first novel “Small Being” was published. This novel captured the true essence of morbid lifestyle. The modern crisis in the lives of urban dwellers has been exceptionally dealt with by Salvador Garmendia.

  • Inhabitants” published in 1961, was a very realistic novel that focused on the adjustment problems of human beings in various situations

  • Day of Ash” and “Bad Day” published in the late 20th century are very similar to the “Inhabitants”

  • He also wrote some light stories, which are namely the “False Bottom” in 1966, “Only Possible Place” in 1988, “Humorous Cat and Lady” in 1987. “Hiding Places” in 1972 won him the National Award for Literature.

  • His other interesting works are “For Bad Weather Outside”, “Kid Captain” and “Equestrian Wizard”.
