Empanada is one of the most important food items in Venezuela, which is also favored by the tourists. Empanadas are fried or baked pastries, which are stuffed with different kinds of fillings. Pizza Empanada recipe

  • Water, egg, egg white and vinegar are blended together in a bowl and the mixture is set aside for some time.

  • 3 cups of flour and salt are mixed together in a separate bowl.

  • The shortening is mixed with the flour mixture and a well is made in the middle. The well is then filled up with the ingredients from the first bowl.

  • The moist and the dry ingredients are then mixed together until it tightens up.

  • The dough is then kneaded in a thin layer of flour until the flour gets mingled with the dough.

  • The dough is then wrapped with a plastic and refrigerated. It should be made sure that it is not refrigerated for more than 24 hours.

  • Prepare the work surface by lightly flouring the area where you plan to roll out the dough.

  • The dough should then be rolled out on a floured, smooth surface.

  • The dough is then rolled out and cut into rounds with cookie cutters or biscuit cutters.

  • The desired filling is then placed in the middle and the edges of the dough spread are crimped.

  • The prepared Empanada is then deep fried in vegetable oil at a temperature of 360 degrees. It should be cooked for one to two minutes on both the sides until they turn golden brown.
