Uzbekistan in the Olympics



The performance of Uzbekistan in the Olympics is satisfactory. The country of Uzbekistan is well known for their sport loving nature. A number of world class athletes have come up from Uzbekistan and made their country famous in world map of sports. The Olympics is considered as the best stage to showcase the sporting talents. Uzbekistan’s performance in Olympics recent years have drawn the attention of the other countries in the Asia.

There are a number of Olympic medalists in Uzbekistan who made their country proud by winning gold, silver and bronze medals for their country. There are four athletes of Uzbekistan in the Olympics who have won a gold medal. They are Mahammatkodir Abdoollayev, Lina Cheryazova, Artur Taymazov and Alexander Dokturishvili. Abdoollayev was a light heavy weight boxer who won Olympic gold medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics. Lina was a free style skier who won a gold medal from the 1994 Winter Olympics. In fact, she is the only gold medal winner from Uzbekistan who won it in the Winter Olympics. Artur was an Uzbek wrestler who competed in the men’s frees6tyle wrestling in the 120 kg group and gave his country a gold medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics. Alexandr was alsoa Uzbek wrestler who participated in the Men’s 74 kg category in the 2004 Summer Olympics and won the gold medal.

These winners are encouraging the younger generation in the athletics which brightens Uzbekistan’s chances to do better in the up coming years.
