The Uzbekistan Empires occupy a large part of the Uzbek history. Since the early years, this country in central Asia was ruled by a number of emperors. Uzbekistan is located in between the Amu Darya and Syr Darya Rivers. The cities like Bukhra, Samarkand and Khiva beside the historic silk route are situated in Uzbekistan. In the 327 BC, Alexander the Great passed through this land and Married the daughter of a local chieftain known as Roxanna. Inspite of this connection, Uzbekistan was left out of the purview of Alexander’s empire.
It was the Muslim Arabs who first established their empires in Uzbekistan. It was during the 8th century AD when they won over this piece of land. Next came the endemic Samanid Dynasty who established the Samanid Empire in Uzbekistan in the 9th century. The famous emperor of this Persian dynasty was Ismail Samani. It was Genghis Khan who snatched this territory from the Samanids in 1220. The country was then ruled by one of the most famous rulers in the world called Timur. He made Samarkand his capital. Uzbekistan prospered a lot during the empire of Timur. Much later in 1865, Uzbekistan was occupied by the Russians.
