The Uzbek automobile manufacturing industry has made roaring profits for the past several years. The Uzbek automotive industry is the backbone of manufacturing industries in the country. Increase in foreign investments have triggered rapid development in the automobile industry of Uzbekistan. Several joint venture automobile factories are being built throughout the country. The country is also conducting negotiations with other leading producers for developing the industry further.
The UzDaewoo automobile assembly plant is the foremost automobile manufacturer in this country. This assembly plant is a joint venture between the South Korean automobile manufacturer Daewoo and Uzbekistan's Uzavtosanoat. Two types of cars are produced in this particular assembly plant. The Nexia and tico are the two types of cars manufactured in this plant. A micro bus Damas is also assembled here. Around 200,000 vehicles are produced annually from this plant.
The government of Uzbekistan is promoting the production of heavy vehicles like bus and truck production. A major step was the production of a 'Isuzu' bus, which was manufactured at the Samarkhand Automobile factory. The factory is planning for a future expansion.
The automobile industry of Uzbekistan also produces tractors, big buses and also passenger cars. Uzavtosanoat is a joint stock automobile company including 20 enterprises and 11 joint ventures. The UzDaewoo and the SamAuto deserves special mention. Sam Auto is into manufacturing of buses and trucks. Along with the growth of the automobile industry, several ancillary industries have also come up. These have been a major source of employment for the local people
Auto motor shows and exhibitions are organized in the country. Various sections in these exhibition showcases buses, cars, special vehicles, spare and complete parts, car alarm and safety devices and also car cosmetics and accessories.
The automobile industry in Uzbekistan, over the years has grown bigger and better. Uzbek Automobile manufacturing has assumed the proportion of a National Industry of the country.
