Appointment Package for Immigration Visa :
Following the submission of all documents and the processing is being done by the national Visa center/Consulate, an interview is scheduled within 60-90 days, depending on the currency of the priority date. Applicants are informed about the interview through mail and they are to appear at the Consular Office in the morning of the concerned date. The Consulate dispatches Appointment Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants to the applicant, and it consists of:
Form OF-171 Immigrant Visa Appointment Letter giving instructions to applicants for immigrant visa to make formal application
Form OF-171 Supplement (giving post-specific information on location, time, fees, and special procedures for the visa application)
Form DS-230 (Application for Immigrant Visa and alien Registration part II Sworn Statement). Form DS-230 II is signed before a consular officer at the time of interview.
Appointment for Non-Immigration Visa :
For applicants for non-immigrant visa on medical emergencies, student and exchange visitor travel, the Consular Section will try to expedite interview appointments on grounds of emergency. The applicant is not supposed to use the term "emergency travel" for an appointment request when the actual reporting date is still far away
Categories of Applicants Exempt from Personal Interviews:
Following categories are exempt from visa appointments:
Applicants for diplomatic visas (A, G, and NATO visas);
Applicants under 14 years; and
Applicants over 79 years
Visa Appointment Reservation Systems :
The Visa Appointment Reservation System is intended for use by persons in the US and Canada only. This system is in place for booking non-immigrant visa interviews.
