Functions of the United States Treasury
In addition to the ones already mentioned above, the United States Treasury have other crucial purposes as well, like:
- The United States Treasury has an office called the Internal Revenue Service, which amasses various kinds of government revenue and valuable income taxes.
- Another department of the United States Treasury is the Bureau of the Public Debt, whose sole responsibility lies in dealing with sale and repurchase of Treasury bonds, bills and notes.
United States Treasury and Budget
The budget is paramount to the economy of any country. The same applies to the US and the United States Treasury takes an active role in it. This department along with its bureaus gave employment to some 116,675 people in the year 2003 and its budget authority was $11.1 billion.
The United States Treasury regulates and keeps a vigilant check on National banks and other savings institutions.
