Universities in West Virginia

West Virginia University: Located in Morgantown, West Virginia, the West Virginia University is a public research university founded in 1867. It has campuses in Parkersburg, Montgomery and Keyser. The institution is governed by the West Virginia University Board of Governors. The major courses offered include agriculture, forestry, economics, engineering, pharmacy, nursing, law, and journalism. The university has an enrollment of 32,251students. James P. West Virginia State University: Located in Institute, West Virginia, United States, the West Virginia State University is a historically black public college. It is one of the smallest land-grant institution in the United States. The school was established in 1891 as the West Virginia Colored Institute. The major courses offered are fine arts, life sciences, biotechnology and media studies. Over 5,000 students enroll in the university every year. Hazo W. Carter, Jr. is the president.

Salem International University: Located in Salem, West Virginia, the Salem International University is a private university. It was founded in December 1888 by the Seventh Day Baptist Church. The college offers courses in liberal arts, teacher education, nursing, business administration, information technology, social sciences, and physical education. J. William Brooks is the chancellor of the university. The university has has the third highest percentage of international students in the country.
