The Commonwealth of Virginia has a state run agency called the Virginia DMV or more precisely the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. It is the mission of the department to look after the security and safety of all motor vehicles operating within the state of Virginia and also to regulate proper laws regarding the insurance and taxation of motor vehicles. The Virginia DMV priority is ensuring safe transportation on Virginia's roads, and it fulfills this function by, granting funds to non-profit safety organizations and various localities, so that they efficiently coordinate traffic on the roads and also conduct various campaigns to increase awareness. Today, the DMV is earning awards and accolades for being one of the best state-run departments in the US for controlling traffic on the roads so efficiently. This has subsequently also lowered the rate of accident on Virginia's roads.
