The entire fraternity of Virginia lawyers are enlisted under the Virginia State Bar which was established in 1938, and is responsible for regulating laws within the Commonwealth.
The Virginia State Bar is an agency of the apex court in Virginia and works on behalf of the common public seeking the protection of the state's laws.

It is the duty of all those Virginia lawyers enlisted with this State Bar, to ensure that every citizen of Virginia, gets proper justice.

All Virginia lawyers working under the Virginia State Bar, ensures that all citizens are granted equal justice within the confines of the state.

New rules have been framed by the Virginia State Bar for all Virginia lawyers falling within its ambit and according to these new rules, it is stated that:-
  • No lawyer can discuss the case of any client outside the lawyer' own firm without prior permission from the client himself.
  • The lawyer now has the right to limit his liabilities regarding malpractice if he secures the permission of the client for doing so before representing the client in court.
  • The new "Alternative Dispute Resolution" allows the lawyer a much larger role to play while fighting a case for any of his clients.
  • Associate attorneys are also meted out the same treatment as independent lawyers under the system of ethical rules.
  • New rules have also made it mandatory for the lawyer to disclose to the tribunal court, the exact position of his client in the ensuing case.
