Health Department

The Health Department of Virginia is a government owed organization responsible for looking after the complete betterment of the health of Virginians and promoting health consciousness among all sections of the Virginian society.

The health department also performs the very important function of promoting ecological balance and educating people regarding steps to protect the environment.

The Virginia health department is quite an efficient organization which has very well managed its duties in the fields of developing emergency measures in the state and preventing the eruption of serious and deadly diseases. The core unit within the Virginia Health Department is the State Board of Health which is endowed with the chief administrative responsibilities and the planning of procedures in order to prevent harmful diseases and promote healthy living.

The main functions of the Board of Health is to; eradicate the state off chronic diseases that are prone to erupting time and again, promoting healthy living, enabling all sections of society to have access to primary healthcare and dental treatment and entering into joint ventures with various public and private companies so as to finance healthcare in the state. Besides these administrative functions, the Board of Health is also responsible for regulating all health related plans and activities, advising the Governor to implement good health related procedures, devising procedures and policies to eradicate health related issues, spreading health education in rural and urban areas, advice measures to patients suffering from chronic diseases and promoting a healthy environment. The Health Department of Virginia has sub-divided its functions under the jurisdiction of different offices in order to ensure good administration.
