Central Virginia Community College



Like all community colleges registered with the Virginia Community College System, the Central Virginia Community College is also a 2 year higher education institution.
Established in 1966, the college is a public educational institution that is aided by higher educational grants from the state government. Possibly the biggest community college in the state, the college has continuously kept up with the responsibility of serving the student population of Lynchburg and Bedford cities along with that of the counties of Appomattox, Campbell, Amherst and Bedford. This large ambit of the college enables it to serve no less than 228,000 interested students in the area.

The curricula of the Central Virginia Community College are nothing different from the courses offered in other community colleges. Therefore, the college provides customized courses in arts and science and in other vocational courses so as to enable its students to enroll in 4 year institutions. The college offers diplomas, certificates and associate of arts and science degrees in all fields of study covered in its ambit. The curricula of the college are sanctioned by the Sate Board for Community Colleges and are supervised by the local community college board.

The Central Virginia Community College is one of the better fairing community colleges of the state with adequate private and government funding. Hence, this community college is also the place which provides students with the best of educational facilities. Today, the college has provisions for providing students with over 20 associate degree programs. The college has also recently started the Distance Education program so as to enable more and more students to benefit from its course of education.
