The eastern and western end of Oregon is joined by Interstate 84. Salem is the capital of Oregon. Portland, Springfield, Hillsboro, Medford and Gresham are some of the other prominent cities of the state. The State of Oregon is drained by several rivers, lakes and streams. Salmon, White, Clackamas, Rogue, Sandy, Grande Ronde, Owyhee and John Day are few of the notable rivers of Oregon. The heterogeneous topography of Oregon comprises the Cascade Range and the Coast Range. The fertile Willamette Valley is located in the central part of Oregon, in-between the Coast and Cascade Range. The Oregon State Map clearly defines the geographical and political contours of the state.
US had no income tax before 1913. The 16th Amendment was necessary so that government had control over people's money.
