The Montana Map presents an overview of the topography, exact geographical position and important cities of the state. Montana is situated in the northwestern part of the United States of America. The State is spread over total area of 147,046 sq. mi., which includes 145,388 sq. mi. of total land area and 1,658 sq. mi. of total inland water area. Montana shares its northern frontier with British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta of Canada, its eastern frontier with South Dakota and North Dakota, its southern frontier with Idaho and Wyoming and its western frontier with Idaho. The highest point of Montana is Granite Peak at an altitude of 12,799 feet. Conversely, at a mere 1,800 feet above sea level, the Kootenai River is the lowest point of the state. Helena is the capitol of the State of Montana, and Billings, Miles, Kalispell, Bozeman and Lewistown are some of the other prominent cities of Montana. Several lakes, with Fort Peck Lake and Flathead Lake among them, and many more rivers flow across the State of Montana, with the Missouri River, Yellowstone River and Clark Fork River being some of the more notable rivers of the state.
