Universities in Iowa

Iowa State University, along with University of Iowa, is a member of the Association of American Universities.



Iowa is home to many public, private, and special K-12 schools. The three public universities in Iowa include Iowa State University, Ames, University of Iowa, Iowa City, and University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.
There are two special K-12 schools in the state, including Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs and the Iowa Braille and Sight saving School in Vinton.

Iowa State University
The Iowa State University or ISU is located in Ames, Iowa. It is a public land-grant and space-grant university and is also known as Iowa State University of Science and Technology. The endowment of the university is US $475 million and it is also known as a research university. The enrollment of students during the Fall session was approximately 29,000 students. It was coeducational from the start and was founded in 1858 by the legislature of Iowa state. It is ranked among the top 50 universities in the state and is renowned for its programs in science, engineering, and agriculture. The eight colleges of the university provides 96 Bachelors degree program, 115 Masters programs, 83 PhD programs, and one professional degree program.



Ashford University
The Ashford University is located in Clinton, Iowa. It is private, for-profit university and is the largest educational holding of Bridgepoint Education. Established in 1918 as Mount St. Clare Academy, it offers Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees in more than 50 programs. The annual enrollment of the students on the Clinton campus is approximately 500.

Upper Iowa University
The Upper Iowa University is located in Fayette, Iowa. It is a private institution of higher education which was established in 1857. Apart from its main campus, it also has 15 centers for distance education programs. It has total enrollment of more than 6,000 students and offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The university offers more than 40 programs, including art, business, conservation, management, education, and more. It is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Clinton Community College
The Clinton Community College is located in Clinton, Iowa. It is a two-year community college which was founded in 1946. It is part of the Eastern Iowa Community College District which is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The enrollment of students during the Fall session was more than 1,500 students.
