Tallahassee is the capital of the U.S State of Florida. The name "Tallahassee" is a Muskogean Indian word which means "old fields" or "old town." Being the county seat of Leon County, the city is also a home to Florida State University, Florida A & M University, Tallahassee Community College, Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy and Barry University.

Tallahassee Regional Airport serves the city, which is considered as a regional center for trade and agriculture. Many major highways also bridge the city with other regions. It is traditionally a politically progressive city where politicians meet to discuss on the development of places such as Miami and Tampa Bay. Tallahassee remained the only confederate state in the country not captured by Union forces. The city consistently chooses Democratic Party to have an authority over it.
