The per capita income of Connecticut is the highest in the nation. In 2010, the gross state product was $237 billion. There is a great disparity in income in the state, although the per capita income in 2007 was $54,117.
New Canaan is the wealthiest town in the state, while Hartford is among the ten cities with lowest per capita income. The sales tax in the state is 6.35% and all real and personal property in the state is taxable.
Connecticut has many multi-million dollar homes. It ranks second, after California, with 3.3% of homes in the state priced over $1 million. Major agricultural outputs are nursery stock, eggs, clams and lobster, dairy products, cattle, and tobacco. Industrial products of the state are transportation equipments, aircraft parts, nuclear submarines, heavy industrial machinery and electrical equipments, military weaponry, chemical and pharmaceutical products, and scientific instruments.
