Durango is a city in the US state of Colorado. The town organized in September 1880 by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad derived its name after Durango in Spain, which was originated from the Basque word "Urango" meaning "water town". It is the county seat of La Plata County.

Climate:
During the summers, temperatures may soar up to 80º Fahrenheit in the days and in the nights the temperatures may drop down to 50ºFahrenheit. There is a good amount of snowfall in this area and Durango is quite famous for its skiing resorts.

Hiking, boating, fishing, swimming, mountain biking, saddle and pack trips in the San Juan National Forest, trout fishing, canoeing, kayaking on the Animas River, downhill skating and white water rafting are the main outdoor entertainment activities in the city that are the favorites of the tourists. A ride through the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge railroad is really amazing. Mesa Verde National Park and Durango Mountain Resort are the other recreational centers in the city.
