Government and Politics in California

The state of California in United States of America is ruled as a democracy. The arena of Politics consists of 'bi-partizan gerrymandering', Political Parties, Political Issues and Electoral System etc.


The government of that state includes three divisions as Legislative branch, Executive branch and judicial branch. These three segments of California Government are also divided into several sub divisions.

Laws in California
Like any other country California too has its set of laws starting from labor laws to employment laws, from real estate laws to traffic laws.

California Driving Laws:

California Employment Development Department (EDD)
California Unemployment is under the jurisdiction of the Employment Development Department or the EDD. The EDD offers several benefits to the unemployed people including insurance. Set up almost 60 years ago The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Branch takes responsibility of those people who are out of work without any fault of their own and are desperately looking for work.

This is a nationwide program which gives out a part of the wage to the unemployed as they engage themselves in searching for a new job. It is part of the federal law but carried out through the state law. The program of the EDD includes issuing of benefits worth $ 6.2 billion and engages in processing over 2.4 million claims. This is sponsored by contributions from employers. Other services within the Unemployment Insurance program comprise of Disaster Unemployment Assistance, Work Sharing and Trade Adjustment Assistance.

The problem of unemployment in California is taken care of the by the state which gives essential privileges to the unemployed. These include job search tools and funds for education as well. The California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board or the CUIAB operates through 12 offices takes up cases pertaining to unemployment issues and claims for disability benefits.

California Unemployment department offers beneficial programs which are different from those offered in other states. Each state formulates laws according to its own requirements depending upon the different levels of unemployment compensation. The duration of these programs also vary from the other states.

There are several unemployment codes in California law pertaining to the problem of unemployment. Some of them under section 1251-1265.9 are 1251, 1252, 1252.1, 1252.2, 1253, 1253.1, 1253.12, 1253.15 and other statutes.
