South Mountain Community College

South Mountain Community College was established in 1978 as one of 10 colleges in the Maricopa Community College District. The college includes its main campus at 24th Street and Baseline, the Ahwatukee Foothills Center, and the Guadalupe Center. The Ahwatukee Foothills Center is situated in the Horizon Community Learning Center. It offers a number of courses ranging from college transfer credits to non-credit self-enrichment classes. The Guadalupe Center offers Day and Evening classes in a number of subjects.

Approximately 8,000 students attend classes at the college each year. The various academic departments and divisions at the college are Counseling, Fine Arts/Communications and Developmental Studies, Information Technology, Social Science and Business, Library, Mathematics, Sciences, and Engineering. South Mountain Community College offers educational and training opportunities for employment preparation and skills improvement. The College offers courses in Accounting, Aeronautics, Administration of Justice, Animal Science, Behavioral Health Science, Child Family Studies, Microcomputer Systems Technology, Office Automation Systems, Psychology, Theater Performance/Production, Yaqui History and Culture, Career Work Experience and a number of other subjects.
