Spring Hill College, Mobile is the first Catholic College in the Southeast. It was founded by the first bishop of Mobile, Michael Portier. It is located at the southern end of I-65.
The college is the third oldest Jesuit College in the country. It's a four-year, co-educational, liberal arts and sciences institution. The campus of Spring Hill College spreads across 450 acres. The campus has 23 buildings. Many of these buildings are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. 70% of Spring Hill's students are from places outside Alabama.
Spring Hill College is accredited by a body called the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to grant associate, baccalaureate and master's degrees. Three bodies called the Alabama State Board of Education, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, accredit the professional programs of the college.
The College offers degrees in various subjects such as Business and Management, Communication, Fine and Performing Arts, Languages and Literature, Nursing, Philosophy and Theology, Sciences, Social Sciences and Teacher Education.
