Snead State Community College is the oldest College in the Alabama College System to award associate degrees. The school originated in 1898 at the time when Boaz Seminary was authorized by the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Snead State Community College is one of the public two-year colleges of the Alabama College System that aims at providing accessible educational opportunities to promote economic growth and development and to enhance the quality of life for the College service area.
The programs of study at the college include Associate in Science Degree, Associate in Applied Science Degree and Associate in Occupational Technology Degree. There are numerous subjects under the Associate in Science Degree which the students can study. These subjects include Accounting, Adult Education, Advertising, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Science, Agriscience Education, Criminology, Forestry and Human Services. The College also has the Statewide Articulation Reporting System (STARS) that is a web-accessible database system that provides guidance and direction for prospective transfer students in Alabama.
