Prince Institute of Professional Studies, Montgomery was established in 1976 by Sara Prince, who was earlier a teacher and a former court reporter for the United States Air Force.
The Institute is accredited by a body called the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. The institute has also been approved by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. Two bodies called the Alabama Department of Education, and the National Court Reporters Association have licensed Prince Institute of Professional Studies, Montgomery.

The institute got the status of a degree-granting institution in 1995. The types of financial assistance available to students are Federal Pell Grants, Federal Stafford Loans, Federal Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) and Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP) Program.

The programs offered at Prince Institute of Professional Studies are Realtime Reporting and Scoping/Proofreading. The Institute gives proper reporter training, equipping the graduates with the best raeltime reporting skills. In the Scoping/Proofreading degree, the students are equipped with skills like notereading, specialized terminology, transcript formatting using a CAT system. This program helps students in pursuing a technical career where sophisticated computer technology and text transmittal application systems are used.
