Marion Military Institute (MMI), Marion is the State Military College of Alabama. This college is the nation's oldest military two-year college. The Marion Military Institute was established in 1842.
Over the years, the institute has been training young men and women into successful citizens and military professionals. The institute aims at training the Corps of Cadets. After getting training here, each graduate is prepared for study at four-year institutions.

Marion Military Institute is accredited by three institutions: Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Council on Accredition and School Improvement and Alabama Independent School Association. It offers the Service Academy Program and the Early Commissioning Program.

The General Bruce K. Holloway Service Academy Preparation Program was started in the year 1907. It is the oldest program of its kind in the country. It prepares a cadet in such a manner that at the end of the program he is fully equipped to meet the demands of various academies. A cadet goes through academic preparation, military training and physical development. Special classes in English, Mathematics, vocabulary development, testing orientation and reading are for improving cadet's test scores. An extensive physical conditioning course is provided for improving physical aptitude scores.

The Early Commissioning Program (ECP) gives qualified candidates an opportunity in getting a commission in the Reserve Forces in a time span of just two years.
