J.F. Drake State Technical College, Huntsville is a two-year college. This college is state-supported, co-ed, vocational technical college. The college was founded in 1962.
The institution was established on a 30-acre plot donated by Alabama A and M University. In the year 1966, the school was renamed in the honor of Dr. Joseph Fanning Drake, President of Alabama A & M for thirty-five years. The College is accredited by the Commission on Occupational Education (COE). The college enrolls around 900 students.
J. F. Drake State Technical College has been committed to training individuals for employment in vocational, technical and industrial pursuits.
Here the classes begin in August (Fall Semester), January (Spring Semester) and May (Summer Session). The various programs of study here are Accounting Technology, Heating and Air Conditioning Technology, Automotive Mechanics Technology, Barbering Technology, Cosmetology Technology, Computer Information Systems Technology, Drafting and Design Technology, Graphic and Printing Technology, Wielding technology etc.
