James H. Faulkner State Community College started courses at Fairhope College in the year 1970. The Fairhope Campus functions as the main instructional site.
In 1975, the college added a permanent staff, student services and expanded offering of programs and services to the community began. The two places where the James H. Faulkner State Community College (Fairhope Campus) has been housed are at the Fairhope High School and the Old Fairhope Library Building. The present Fairhope Campus site was acquired in 1987. The Fairhope Site was originally the home of the Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education.

The Fairhope Campus is proud of the fact that it has been entered in the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of Interior. The Faulkner State Community College was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in 1970. The college was reaccredited in 1975 and 1985.
