The Concordia College focuses on educating its students in accord with the teachings of the Christian faith for lives of responsible leadership and service in the church and community.
The Concordia College was formerly known as Alabama Lutheran Academy and Junior College. It was the direct result of the pioneer Lutheran missionaries in Alabama. The College was granted full accreditation as a Junior College from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In December 1994, the school received accreditation as a baccalaureate-degree granting education.

The various degrees offered by the College are Associate in Arts Degree, Bachelor of Science in Education and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

The Associate of Arts Degree Program includes requirements from each of the five curricular divisions of the college. At the Associate Level, a student may develop a program of concentration in General Studies and the Associate of Arts Degree with an emphasis on Childhood Development. Bachelor of Science in Education Degree Program has two majors: Early Childhood Education (prepares teachers for Pre-school through third grade) and Elementary Education (prepares teachers for kindergarten through sixth grade).
