In 1993, Dr. Robert G. Mayes, Ph. D. founded the University of Environmental Sciences. Initially, the University offers only two certificate programs: Certified Environmental Compliance Manager (CECM) and Certified Ergonomic Compliance Director (CECD). Seeing the overwhelming response to these programs, the University of Environmental Sciences developed its first-degree programs in Environmental Engineering and Occupational Safety and Health in 1994. Later new degree programs such as Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Criminal Justice Administration and Health Administration were added. Dr. Mayes changed the name of the University of Environmental Sciences to Colombia Southern University.
The various degree programs at the Associate level are Associate in Applied Science Degree in Business and Associate in Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, BSBA with Concentration in Finance, BSBA with Concentration in Human Resource Management, BSBA with Concentration in Hospitality and Tourism, BSBA with Concentration in Marketing, BSBA with Concentration in Sport Management and a number of other programs. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs include MBA with Concentration in E-Business and Technology, MBA with Concentration in Public Administration, MBA with Concentration in Sport Management. The University also offers Certificate in Industrial Hygiene and Management Program.
