Symbolism of Oregon Flag
Gold and blue are 2 colors that are identified with the state. The 33 stars stand for the fact that Oregon was the 33th state to gain admission into the Union. The date enlightens a person about the state's official admission. The eagle, being the national bird of the US represents the security the nation offers Oregon at all time. The topmost part of the shield depicts a setting sun and the Pacific Ocean. A British war ship is shown as leaving while an American commercial ship is arriving. This greatly signifies the termination of the British domination and dawn of the American reign. The middle section of the shield portrays a wagon, standing for the first settlers and a pictorial image of the forests and mountains adorning the state. The final portion of the shield depicts a plow, a pickax and a sheaf of wheat, all of which, stand for the mineral and agricultural resources of the state. The beaver on the reverse side of the Oregon Flag represents the state's nickname or the Beaver State.

The Oregon Flag, with its shield is noticed for its symbolic scenes and images that speak volumes about the state.
