Since 1964, Utah has been voting Republican in all the presidential elections. As the map shows, the 2008 presidential elections in the state were also won by the Republican party. Republican nominee John McCain won by a 28.0% margin of victory, throwing the state in the Republican column. Democrat Barack Obama managed to get only 327,670 popular vote as against McCain's 596,030. In both 2004 and 2008 elections, Salt County gave an edge to the Republican party, while the least votes for the winner came from the county of Daggett.
