The 2008 United States presidential elections in New Jersey also saw a comfortable win of the Democratic regime. Democratic nominee Barack Obama won all the fifteen electoral votes and defeated John McCain with a 15.5% margin of victory. Republican senator, John McCain got only 1,545,495 votes as against Obama's 2,085,051. The votes in the counties of Essex and Bergen gave an edge to the Democrat, while the minimum votes for the winner came from the county of Salem.
