The 2004 United States presidential elections in Nevada saw the Republican party emerging victorious. Republican George W. Bush carried the state by a 2.6% margin of victory winning all the major counties except Clark County.
The 2008 United States presidential elections in Nevada were won by the Democratic party. Democratic nominee Barack Obama won the elctions with a 12.5% margin of victory, sweeping all the five electoral votes. After the Republican victory in 2004, there was large unrest and dissatisfaction with the regime and anti-Republican sentiments were growing nationwide. Obama received 55.15% of the total statewide vote to McCain's 42.65%. The maximum votes for the winning party came from Clark County, while the county of Esmaralda fetched the least number of votes.
