As the map shows, the 2004 United States presidential elections in Hawaii were swept by the Democratic party. Democratic nominee John Kerry carried the state by a 8.7% margin of victory. Honololu County got the maximum votes for the Republican party, while the least vote count came from the county of Kalawao.

The 2008 United States presidential elections in Hawaii were also swept by the Democrats. The Democrat nominee, Barack Obama captured the state with a 45.3% margin of victory to win the presidency. The maximum votes came from the Hawaiian capital, Honololu, which is also the birthplace of the Democrat. Out of the total 306813 votes casted in the capital, 214239 were won by the Democrats.

Since 1988, Hawaii has been a Democrat majority state and the massive victory of Obama in 2008 further strengthened the party's grip on the state politics.
