The Democrats continued the trend and walked triumphant in the United States presidential election in the state that took place on November 4, 2008. The Democratic nominee Barack Obama won with a 22.4% margin of victory. All the six counties in the state voted in favor of the Democratic party. In both the 2000 and 2004 elections, the maximum votes for the Democrat nominees came from the county of Hartford; while the county of Windham fetched the minimum votes for the dominating party.
