Immigration from Canada To USA

Much against the case with the southern neighbor, Mexico, the USA has a peaceful border relationship with its northern neighbor, Canada. The two countries share the world's longest undefended border (the International Boundary) which explains that illegal infiltration is not a major factor in their interstate relationships. Nevertheless still there exist events of immigration from Canada to USA .

Border security along the International Boundary Has been dramatically improved by both since the 9/11 (although none of the 19 terrorists involved in the September 11th attacks are said to have entered the United States via the Canadian border).

American and Canadian residents owning property near the border need to report to their respective governments the event of construction of any physical border crossing on their land. Besides, all immigrants should report to the respective customs and immigration agencies in each country. In remote areas with no facility of staffed border crossings, there are hidden sensors on roads and in wooded areas near crossing points and on railways, but not adequate border personnel to verify and stop influx.

In the past, Canada has complained of cigarette and firearms smuggling from the United States while latter has complained of drug smuggling from Canada. Human smuggling into both countries has been an ongoing problem for border security and law enforcement personnel. In July 2005 law enforcement personnel caught hold of three men who had built a long tunnel through the border between British Columbia and Washington that for the purpose of smuggling marijuana.
