A person planning to live indefinitely and permanently in the United States needs to acquire an immigrant visa .
There are various forms of immigrant visas to the USA. Such as:

His/her file has to be petitioned with the Bureau of Immigration and Citizen Services under the Department of Homeland Security. Sometimes a US citizen living abroad can file an immigrant visa petition at an US embassy or consulate.2. CR 1 Visa:

Family member immigration falls under two basic categories: unlimited and limited. While the first includes immediate relatives of U.S. citizens such as the spouse, widow(er) and unmarried children under 21 years of age of a U.S. citizen, and the parents of a US citizen who is 21 or older, the second includes Family First Preference (F1), Family Second Preference (F2), Family Third Preference (F3), and Family Fourth Preference (F4).7. Work visa:
The INA provides a yearly minimum of 140,000 work-based immigrant visas which are divided into five preference categories, such as, E1 (Employment First Preference), E2 (Employment Second Preference), E3 (Employment Third Preference), and E4 (Employment Fourth Preference). They may require a labor certification from the U.S. Department of Labor and the filing of a petition with the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.Visa Lottery: For more information please refer to Immigration Lottery USA [Index 1]
