The National Hockey League is a professional association composed of ice hockey teams in North America. This association was mainly founded in 1917 in Montreal with five teams initially which later expanded to 3o teams wherein 24 are based in United States. Each national hockey league is played between two teams, which are of 60 minutes long. The game is usually played on a hockey rink where there are six players on each side to defense their hockey net from the opponent. The six players include five players and one-goal tenders. It is the fifth largest American Amateur Ice Hockey association of nearly 2500 members team. It provides grassroots level foundation for the development of USA Hockey, which aims at designing programs to improve participation of the youths in USA.

USA Field Hockey Association is yet another organization which aims in providing field hockey to the players of United States which is also a member of the United States Olympic Committee and Pan American Hockey Federation. It provides program to promote the sport field hockey in USA.
